Modern Foreign Languages
French Intent
At Althorpe and Keadby Primary School, we enable all pupils to develop positive attitudes towards other languages and cultures.
This is encouraged by being given regular stimulating and enjoyable lessons which build confidence and promote the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
By the end of our children’s primary education, they have acquired an understanding of both spoken and written French, confidence to speak in French with others and know how important other languages can be in their future.
French at Althorpe and Keadby Primary School is taught by Mrs Tate on an afternoon to each KS2 class. Class Teachers consolidate the work throughout the week as does Mrs Tate when she is working around school.
Lessons follow the Light Bulb Language Scheme which ensures that our pupils;
- Become competent in the French language
- Have an understanding of language and identity
- Have an international outlook
- Are inclusive
