Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium is extra funding given to schools by the government to help children reach their full potential, no matter what their background. Schools receive this money for every child who has been eligible for free school meals in the last six years, is (or has been) looked after by the local authority, or has a parent serving in the armed forces. This funding allows us to provide additional support, opportunities, and resources to help children thrive in their learning and personal development. If you think your child may be eligible, or if you would like more information, please contact the school office—we are always happy to help.

Although the funding is called Pupil Premium, it is not given to individual children. Instead, the school uses the money to provide whole-school strategies and targeted support that research shows are most effective in helping all pupils achieve, particularly those who may face barriers to learning. This means we carefully plan how to use the funding in ways that will make the biggest difference for children, closing gaps in learning and ensuring every pupil has the opportunity to succeed.

There is an allocated Pupil Premium lead at every school. At Althorpe and Keadby this is Fran Sorbie. The Pupil Premium Lead is the person who makes sure this funding is used effectively to support children’s learning and wellbeing. They identify the barriers that might affect pupils’ progress, plan how the funding should be spent, and check that the support we provide is making a real difference. The Pupil Premium Lead also works closely with teachers, support staff, governors, and families to make sure that every child has the best possible chance to achieve their potential.

Each year we will publish how we intend to spend our school Pupil Premium Grant. In this report you will get information around the impact of spend so far; how much we have been allocated; what we are spending it on this year and how we know that is a good idea (based on research) This report will be published each December in line with DFE expectations.
